July 2014

Unlike in June, our employee’s have managed to keep their feet firmly on the ground this month! Though it’s been no less hectic!

Regardless of the sun shining over London, our specialist CSRT damp surveyors have been busy, most notably in West London, surveying houses in the ‘well do to’ areas of Notting Hill and Holland Park. Our travels have also taken us to amongst other places Sidcup, Dartford, Bexleyheath, St Albans and Newmarket! The reasons for survey have varied included pre-purchase surveys, health impacts of damp and mould and investigative works for owner-occupiers. Clients love that we take a tailored approach to each property and produce reports to suit their needs. Our CSRT surveyor’s been busy returning to the office to talk through customers concerns over the telephone before writing up reports, with customers valuing our personal touch and willingness to go the extra mile, to ensure thorough damp, timber and mould surveys are undertaken and the most suitable remedial works recommended.

Between the sunshine, July’s seen localized flooding over London and into Essex, with our surveyors seeing that the resultant heavy downpours have due to the numerous thunderstorms causing penetrating damp problems.

Down in the South-West, our two freelance immigration accommodation and property inspection report surveyor’s, Sharon and Chris have been enjoying those amazing ocean views and a much needed cool breeze off the North Atlantic as they carry out immigration accommodation and overcrowding assessments around Cornwall and Devon; not that we’re at all envious, up here in East Anglia

Acoustics wise, July has seen us undertaking a noise survey of the performance of a separating floor partition between commercial and residential units in South London, following our recommendations for the installation of a suspended acoustic ceiling, a most impressive +11dB achievement over and above the levels of sound attenuation required in Approved Document E achieved for conversions, being met.

However, it’s not been all work, work, work though July as our office manager, Josie, put her impressive organisation skills to good use, arranging for a trailer (normally used to transport tractors around the Essex countryside!) to be driven into a front garden in Roxwell so as to give the Healthy Abode team, friends and family a great elevated view of the Tour de France, as the cyclists flew through Roxwell and despite some comments – all credit to Stuart as the BBQ was edible!

If you need an acoustics or noise survey, advice on sound levels or sound attenuation measures, an independent damp, timber or mould survey, immigration accommodation report, property inspection report or just some professional advice on housing or environmental health matters, then feel free to drop us a line at info@healthyabode.co.uk or give us a call on 01245 206 250, we’re here to help!
